Diabetes is one of the leading causes of mortality and reduced life expectancy. Approximately 463 million adults (aged 20 to 79 years) are living with diabetes, and by 2030, this number is expected to rise to 570 million. Discover how healthy foods can also be delicious. Understand common medical conditions and lifestyle factors, learn the health benefits of specific foods and ingredients, and explore how to use them in alternative cooking techniques.
Cooking is therapeutic – unlock your inner cook and prepare nutritious and delicious unrefined whole food dishes. Gain information on how to create a preventative food pantry, enabling you to make a dietary transition or support family members to improve health through better eating.

The Health and Wellness Workshops serve as general primer to understand different health conditions and how to cook with whole foods and unprocessed ingredients. We do not dispense any medical advice and recommend you discuss with your healthcare provider prior to making dietary changes. We also do not recommend stopping any prescribed medications or replacing them with other foods/recipes without the advice of a qualified doctor, medical practitioner or healthcare provider.
The practical component of the workshops takes place in our central kitchen lab. Therefore, we regret that we cannot accommodate students with severe food allergies at this time, due to the possibility of cross-contamination.
Absolutely! Please discuss your dietary requirements with our instructors and they can make suggestions on how to adapt recipes.
