ICCA Dubai To Host World Pasta Day 2018

The event aims to spread awareness of healthy & sustainable food of the Mediterranean Diet - Pasta, also recognized as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. The ICCA Student Chefs would be preparing Pasta of different cultures from around the world, for over 150 international delegates showcasing the inclusiveness of Pasta and how it brings us all together!

World Pasta Day is celebrated every year on the 25th of October with promotional activities and parallel events held throughout the world. This year marks the 20th anniversary of World Pasta Day which will be held in Dubai in association with the International Centre for Culinary Arts (ICCA), Dubai.

The event is organized by the International Pasta Organization (IPO) and The Italian Association of Confectionary and Pasta Industries (AIDEP), with the support of the Italian Trade Agency (ITA), and it aims to maximize the promotion of a healthy & sustainable food of the Mediterranean Diet, which is recognized as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.Authoritative experts and opinion leaders are invited to delve into the various aspects linked to pasta for an international audience, comprising of pasta makers, suppliers and representatives from different sectors such as economic sector, academics, institutions & media, to have an in-depth discussion on the history of pasta from its roots outlining its path between the past, present and future.ICCA Dubai is happy to host the event for the love of pasta. Moreover, the event is a great learning platform for the ICCA Student Chefs, as Italian cuisine is one of the core subjects of their curriculum. The event provides a good exposure to the students for them to learn more about the cuisine, and its various possibilities through an on-the-ground international experience of a world-scale.Inclusiveness of Pasta as a World CuisineThe origin of Pasta can be dated back to the great Roman Empire era with references to Pasta Dishes such as the Lasagna, and also the findings of manufacturing tools & procedures for making the Pasta being developed during this period.During the 14th Century, pasta got extensively introduced to the rest of the world through the Italian & Spanish explorers heading for new lands, taking their food with them, and since then the world has accepted & included pasta into their cuisines in their very own ways.Today, the world is extremely familiar with Pasta.
